Twilight
takes place in the small town of Forks Washington. Based on the
book by Stephanie Meyer, the story is about the unusual life a teenage
girl and the twists and turns of growing up. Part of this unusual
life is the fact that a family of Vampires live in the same town.
The family consists of Carlisle Cullen, Esme Cullen, Emmett Cullen,
Alice Cullen, Edward Cullen, Jasper and Rosalie Hale.
When
Bella Swan moves to town, there is an immediate attraction between
her and Edward. The crest represents the vampire clan of the Cullen’s
and their choice to stay together as a family instead of being
nomadic. As the story progresses, the relationship of Edward and
Bella intensifies. He gives her a crest ring to represent her
place in the family. The crest is not part of the books, but is
very prominent in the movie. Many scenes include the crest and
it is easily identifiable.
Edward
Cullen wears a leather cuff with the Cullen Crest in the center.
It’s best shown in the school classroom scene when he and
Bella are seated next to each other, and he introduces himself.
In this scene he pushes the microscope next to her, and the cuff
is quite visible.
Rosalie
and Alice’s pendants are obvious when they are first introduced
in the school cafeteria scene. Bella’s friends are explaining
who the Cullen’s are, and a close-up view can be seen of
both family crests.
Jasper’s
cuff is noticeable in the scene where Alice and Jasper are driving
Bella to Arizona towards the end of the movie.
Emmet’s
leather wristband, Dr. Carlisle’s crest ring and Esme’s
bracelet are not as apparent in any one scene in Twilight, but
look for them in the upcoming sequel, New Moon.
